With our first taste of Fanfarlo’s new material, “Replicate,” we were faced with something completely alien – a Fanfarlo song that was dark and sparse, and quite interesting. The second glimpse of their as-yet untitled second album comes in the form of “Deconstruction.” This song goes back towards the Londoners’ pop sensibilities with horns and violins, but is not quite the sweeping orchestral sound we know from Reservoir – but that doesn’t mean that it’s not great. Judging from the two songs we’ve heard so far, Fanfarlo’s new album is going to be one of the most surprisingly surprising to come out in the near future.
