Originally commissioned by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis toward the middle of last year, art-rock trio Brute Heart wrote and recorded an entirely new score for the 1920 German Expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Â They performed the soundtrack in its entirety on various occasions backed by elaborate stage setups and extravagant visual displays. Â And we’re finally seeing the physical release of the music on Oakland cassette/record label Moon Glyph. Â You can head over to Moon Glyph’s website now to snag yourself a cassette copy of this wildly imaginative and wholly eerie score. Â The label has also seen fit to release one more song from this soundtrack. Â “Prophecy” could easily find a home in various parts of the film, and its segmented musical themes and evasive melodies make it a natural fit for the film. Â Enjoy the track below.
