Battles may have lost a member but judging from lead single “Ice Cream” they certainly have not lost any of their vigour. The song starts and ends with energetic cut up vocal samples and in between the band shows their ability to create unfathomably energetic angular experimental rock.
The song premiered this evening on BBC Radio 1 and the decent sounding radio rip is below. Knowing how these things generally go, the studio version is likely to hit the net fairly soon.
“Ice Cream” comes from Gloss Drop, the band’s second album which is set to drop on Warp Records on June 7th.
