After various push-backs, lawsuits, jail time and apology mixtapes, it has been revealed that Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is not only definitely being released on Monday August 29th (a week from today), but it will go on sale as soon as the clock strikes midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning.
After having made fans wait so long it seems Lil Wayne doesn’t want to make them have to wait a second longer than they ought to. Well, that and for marketing reasons. Billboard reports that the digital release of the album at 00.00 Monday morning on iTunes and Amazon MP3 is to capitalize upon Weezy’s performance at the MTV VMAs which are on Sunday night. I guess Lil Wayne is planning to put on a performance so electrifying that viewers think “Wow, I need me some new Lil Wayne right now.” We’ll have to see if the scheme pays off, and more importantly if the album has been worth the wait on Monday.
