Leni Black shares global nostalgia on “Back in Boston”

One of the lesser known artists at the forefront of today’s “contemporary folk” movement is Nashville-based Leni Black. Leni’s new single “Back In Boston” has a gently inviting melody that sounds wonderful today, yet would have been equally enthralling at Gerdes Folk City in 1960.

Says Leni: “This song is about all the cities I’ve lived in – in reverse chronological order with some anecdotes about my experiences there. I wanted each section to feel like that city so you can hear nods to my time in Philadelphia, the jazz bars in Boston, and the Guzheng during my time in China. Fun fact: I actually played the drums on this track!”

“Back In Boston” is the perfect antidote for all the tuneless acoustic dirges that abound in the Streaming Sphere. It’s reminiscent of the time when pop radio gave us Carly Simon, Wendy Waldman and other gifted song-crafters.
