Kennedy Wilde is dazzling on “Homesick”

There are some indie artists who feel destined to have breakout hits. LA artist MARIS and Austin, TX bandleader Barb spring to mind. You can add Kennedy Wilde’s name to that list. The Nashville artist’s new single “Homesick” has all the necessary ingredients for a smash hit. It’s deliciously hooky with a brilliantly propulsive chorus.

Wilde’s voice is a lot like that of Maggie Rogers. The full effect doesn’t hit you until the song is over and you go, “Damn, that was really masterful!”

Kennedy says: “The sample that started it all was a voice memo I recorded my freshman year of college. I saved it for six years, then played it for producer Reid Sorel and the demo for ‘Homesick’ was born. I worked on it by myself for a couple of weeks, getting about 97% there. I played the track for Canadian writer Jesse Slack, mostly as a lament. He loved it. We finished it in an hour.”

Judging by “Homesick”, Wilde’s upcoming album will be an effervescent pop triumph.
