Lost Girls, the duo of Jenny Hval and Håvard Volden, are releasing their debut album Menneskekollektivet this Friday, March 26. We’ve already heard the 12-minute title track and album opener, but before we hear the full record they’re giving us another teaser called “Losing Something”.
The new track may only be a third of the length of “Menneskekollektivet”, but it is no less impressive in its cyclical and expansive production. Of course, Hval is at full strength in her lyrics too, which encompass computer-written poetry (from The Policeman’s Beard is Half Constructed) as well as her own unpredictable tangents. It all combines into a beguiling cauldron of thoughts that is inchoately forlorn and yet gripping, and demands repeat listens. Take your first below.
Lost Girls’ debut album Menneskekollektivet comes out on March 26 (physical on April 23) via Smalltown Supersound (pre-order/save).
