Rian Peters, better known as IAMTHELIVING, and Teon Gibbs are not here to mess around. Their just-released, genre-shattering EP, JNGL, intends to embody every facet of their union – intoxicatingly blending soul and hip hop – and mutual interests.
The title isn’t coincidental: the jungle represents both the sprawling, urban wasteland, and dense, mysterious forests. Gibbs shares, “We wanted to create a project that embodies who we are, where we’re from, and shows what we can do. The word “JNGL” just seemed to capture it all.“
The latest single from the project, the sprawling, emotive (yet irresistibly catchy), “Where Do We Go From Here”, plunges right past any sense of confusion into the weighty topics they’re eager to explore, ranging from, as they put it, “alcohol addiction, racism & police brutality, to environmental issues.“
Running over 13 minutes, the video for the song digs into all this and more: “We live in a world where there are so many different problems that we face and we are all looking for positive change. This video encourages unity, strength, hope and togetherness from people from all walks of life.”
