Gorillaz just announced they will be going on their first ever world tour. Accompanying Albarn and co. will be half of the Clash, Paul Simon and Mick Jones. North American dates have not been announced yet, but are said to be announced shortly.
PLASTIC BEACH SAILING THROUGH EUROPE, NORTH AMERICA, ASIA, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
Gorillaz are set to take their Plastic Beach around the world later this year. The band have today confirmed they will play 20 shows in North America (including their first ever show at Madison Square Garden) 10 nights across Europe including 2 nights at London’s 02 Arena before heading to Asia and down under for 7 shows.
Gorillaz fanclub, the Sub Division, will benefit from pre-sale ahead of tickets going on general sale.
This is Gorillaz first world tour. The previously announced tour will now become part of the “Escape to Plastic Beach” World Tour, with the live shows moving from September into November to include an additional show at the Brighton Centre and Antwerp Lotto.
The new show at Brighton Centre on 18th November is set to go on general sale at 9:00am on Friday 30th July and the show at Antwerp Lotto goes on sale July 31st . All other UK & Europe shows are on sale now. Full details are available at gorillaz.com/tour-dates
Gorillaz have played in front of more than 400,000 fans headlining Coachella, Glastonbury, Roskilde in Denmark and Benicassim Festival in Spain. They of course also played private rehearsals for some lucky Sub-Divisioners! This week Gorillaz become the first major Western band to play in Syria when they play the ancient Citadel in Damascus on July 25th following a sold out show at the Byblos Festival in Beirut.
Due to new tour routing the Gorillaz live shows at Glasgow SECC on September 8th, Newcastle Metro Arena on September 11th and Milan Forum on November 19th are to be cancelled. The Gorillaz “Escape to Plastic Beach” World Tour will now sail into Dublin on the 11th November, Manchester on the 12th, London on the 14th and 16th, Birmingham on the 17th, with a last show in Brighton on the 18th before heading to Berlin (21st), Antwerp (22nd), Paris (23rd) and then “down under”.
Existing bookings for rescheduled dates remain valid. Your ticket vendor will be in touch to confirm your booking. UK ticket holders affected by a rescheduled/cancelled date can obtain a refund or be re-ticketed for an alternative UK date and venue. Ticket holders unable to make a rescheduled European date or affected by a cancelled date will obtain a refund.
