Atlanta’s Black Lips are an extremely productive band. Since their debut record Black Lips! in 2003 they have released four more full length albums and are soon to make that five with Arabia Mountain.
Vice Records will release Arabia Mountain on June 7th. This new album marks a new direction in recording conditions for the quartet as it was the first time they hired someone else to produce, namely big name producer and Vice Magazine stalwart Mark Ronson. It will be interesting to hear how Ronson’s slick style meshes with Black Lips’ much grimier aesthetic.
Rolling Stone also reports that fellow Atlanta musician Lockett Pundt (of Deerhunter) makes an appearance, though they are not explicit as to which track he appears on.
