The sophomore slump philosophy is unlikely to apply to the Dum Dum Girls, as they have already has quite good debute full-length and an EP. So, Only In Dreams doesn’t feel risky as much as it feels sudden, continuing the heavy output for a band that has only recently jumped on all of our radars.
Sub Pop will off Only In Dreams (named after the best Weezer song?) on September 27th, which will come complete with a full North American tour with Crocodiles. And, after Dum Dum Girls travel the continent, they will head to Europe where they will continue to play shows until the holiday season.
“The first record was basically the first songs I’d ever written,” says frontwoman Dee Dee, “and I was thinking nostalgically about being a teenager. This record, it was pretty much impossible not to write about very recent, very real things.” The album was recorded at Josh Homme’s Pink Duck Studios and produced by both Richard Gottehrer and Sune Rose Wagner from the Raveonettes.
