Andre Young (professionally known as Dr. Dre) has recently taken legal action against his old label, Death Row Records. Regarding The Chronic, Dre’s multiplatinum hip-hop album from 1992, the producer claims to have not received royalties for the album’s sales since 1996. Additionally, Dre is unhappy that the label released a remastered version of The Chronic last year. As you might have guessed, he didn’t get any royalties from that, either. Considering Death Row has been bankrupt and subsequently purchased by parent company WIDEawake, the label’s rocky financial ground makes it seem as though Dr. Dre is not likely to lose this case.
