With the music community willing to sacrifice virgins, curse their own mothers and even begin paying for music again for just a small tour from Daft Punk, it seemed like The Third Twin was the answer that worked for everyone. Daft Punk could escape the pressures of topping themselves once again, while fans would get their fix of robots and dancing until the upcoming Janet Jackson tour (ouch!). The only snag appears to be that Daft Punk has nothing to due with The Third Twin, aside from sound similarities which this writer can neither confirm, nor care much about, nor deny.
The DP camp offered the following in a statement (thanks to NME): “It has been brought to the attention of Daft Punk’s management that the promoters for the Arenal Sound Festival in Spain have recently issued a press release in which they claim that a band called The Third Twin is ‘directly connected’ to Daft Punk.
“This is completely untrue. Recent press reports are based on rumours instead of facts. Daft Punk is in no way associated with The Third Twin and the promoters for the Arenal Sound Festival are promoting the show under false pretences.” But…but…they are still playing Coachella, right?
