Today, Curren$y let-loose a new track from his upcoming commercial mixtape Weekend At Burnie’s, titled “This Is The Life.” You can stream it below, but maybe more interesting is the report by Pitchfork that the rapper also plans a “Wizard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon-style sync-up of Weekend at Burnie’s and the film that inspired it, 1989’s Weekend at Bernie’s.
For those of you who don’t remember the film (and I’m using a loose definition of the term “film”), it surrounds 80’s icons Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman going to visit their boss’ beach house and finding him dead, then proceeding to pretend he is still alive with “hilarious” consequences. Needless to say, the film synced to Curren$y’s raps could be awesome.
No word on when to expect this project, but the album Weekend At Burnie’s will be available on June 28th. Enjoy “This Is The Life.”
