The National’s new video for “Conversation 16”, arguably the best track off 2010’s High Violet, might just be the strangest grab-bag video of the year so far.
Its got Flight of the Conchords‘ Kristen Schaal as the president, Mad Men‘s John Slattery as a secret service agent, and The National’s Matt Berninger as his partner. Without spoiling all the excitement, there’s also a bear costume involved. And really, why wouldn’t there be a bear costume?
Before hitting play down below, make sure to look at the default screen for the video, which has Schaal (who has also appeared on Mad Men) peering out from behind her presidential desk with crazy eyes bulging. It should come as no surprise that the video’s concept was her idea.
