Having previously thought that this would be the cover art for Björk’s upcoming album Biophilia, it has now been revealed that the image above is the actual cover art. This marks the first time that Björk does not appear on the cover of her album. UPDATE: The above is not the cover art for the album, just an image put in place for pre-orders.
Biophilia is coming out gradually in app form (today sees the release of the “mother” app as well as “Cosmogeny” and “Crystalline”), but the physical product – both CD and vinyl – will be released on September 27th through Nonesuch/One Little Indian. Those of you feeling a little flush, however, may choose to go with the “Ultimate Edition” of Biophilia.
The Ultimate Edition comes with:
• The album (encased in “black uncoated board wallets”)
• A lacquered and silkscreened oak hinged-lid case
• The “Biophilia Manual” (a “48-page, full-color, hardbound, cloth-covered, and thread-sewn book, tipped on lenticular panel to the front cover, with foil-blocked spine and back cover”)
• “10 chrome-plated tuning forks, silkscreened on one face in 10 different colors, stamped at the back, and presented in a flocked tray. Each fork is adjusted to the tone of a Biophilia track, covering a complete octave in a non-conventional scale”.
It’ll only set you back £500 (about $800). Understandably, they are being made to order. If you just want the Biophilia manual, that’s also an option. Everything is available for pre-order now at Björk’s webstore.
