It’s coming up to the 10th anniversary of Gorillaz’ debut self-titled album, and in celebration they already announced the release of their singles collection, but they’ve also teamed up with Converse something else special.
The renowned shoe company will release a special edition of their most beloved shoes, the Chuck Taylors, with designs made by Gorillaz’ creator Jamie Hewlett. You can see one design above, the “signature design” of the collection, inspired by the debut album’s artwork, but there will be three more and they sound much more exciting. We can expect more designs that “meld their diverse backgrounds and unique influences to create a revolutionary collection.” But we’ll have to wait until February to see the rest of the collection.
Gorillaz have also agreed to take part in Converse’s newest project “Three Artists: One Song.” This is an undertaking that brings together three diverse artists and gets them to create a song together. The first in the series saw Matt & Kim, Andrew W.K. and Soulja Boy teaming up. Gorillaz are much more than used to teaming up with a diverse range of artists to create a new song, in fact it’s probably their calling card, so we can hope that their contribution to “Three Artists: One Song” to be up their regular high standards. Their collaborators have not yet been announced, but will be revealed soon. You can be sure that we’ll bring you the song here on One Thirty BPM as soon as it’s available.
