Relative newcomers to the music scene may have no idea who Cibo Matto are. The expermiental Japanese girl duo called it quits a decade ago, but in their career they worked with the likes of Michel Gondry on their amazing video for “Sugar Water” and appeared in “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” But more imporantly they released two critically acclaimed and wholly unique albums.
After reuniting for a benefit concert in aid of the Japanese Tsunami in March the duo seem to have hit it off once again and have plotted out a couple of teaser tours, which they’re calling “YEAH BASICALLY CIBO MATTO.” Dates are below.
They’ve also launched a new webstie yeahbasicallycibomatto.com and are promising new material for 2012. You can hear a little bit of it, as well as some clips of them recording, and galavanting around New York in the trailer below.
