It seems like another Cass McCombs who recorded the beautiful A in 2003. Shortly after that he toured as opener for Modest Mouse (when “Float On” was all the rage) and proceeded to slowly disappear from the indie consciousness. So 2009’s Catacombs was both a coming-out party to some and a triumphant return to others, but now it appears that Cass isn’t going anywhere.
WIT’S END, McCombs 6th full-length album, will be released on April 12th in America and a day earlier in the UK on Domino Records. According to Pitchfork, “McCombs recorded the album in cities around the U.S., co-producing it alongside his Catacombs collaborator, Foreign Born’s Ariel Rechtshaid.” Check out the tracklisting below and listen to the album’s opener here. It’s stunning.
