Cass McCombs is gearing up to go back on the road again to tour in support of his second album of 2011, coming out on November 8th. Humor Risk follows up this year’s WIT’S END and judging from the song we’ve heard from it (“The Same Thing”), this album will be more upbeat than its predecessor, which will possibly make for more lively live performances. The handful of new dates are below.
The song “Robin Egg Blue” will appear on Humor Risk, and while McCombs is not ready for you to hear the album version yet, he has provided us with a free stream of an alternate take of the song mixed by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, making what is being dubbed the “Gun Drum mix.” The song is a pounding and catchy number and makes me wonder if this is due to Batmanglij’s fine work, I guess we will have to wait until we hear the album to find out. This version of “Robin Egg Blue” will appear as an iTunes bonus track to Humor Risk, so if you don’t like the original as much as this then you can always sub this one into the tracklist. Stream the song below and check out the new tour dates.
