Elusive British producer Burial has released his new single “Dreamfear” b/w “Boy Sent From Above” digitally via XL. Listen here and pre-order the physical 12″ single, due to be released on 9 February, here.
As ever with Burial, there is little to no information about the new tracks.
We can tell you that “Dreamfear” pushes 13 minutes and sees jungle-type beats sent through a melange of skittering atmospherics and carefully deployed vocal samples. Like most of Burial’s extended pieces, it unfolds in distinct passages that reconfigure the sounds into new approaches.
“Boy Sent From Above” does top the 13 minute mark and returns to the tactile ambient sounds that characterised the producer’s 2022 Antidawn EP. It then pinwheels through a series of nocturnal neon hallucinations.
