A new festival? Really? Well, it is not just a music festival that will be taking place in Chicago at Eckhart Park over the weekend of September 16-18. Billed as a playground for children and adults, Brilliant Corners Of Popular Amusements will offer carnival games, rides, a farmer’s market, a craft fair, and, duh, music.
As far as the music goes, the lineup is pretty impressive for an inaugural event, featuring the likes of Bill Callahan, Dan Deacon, Shellac, Fool’s Gold, School Of Seven Bells, CAVE, and much more. Even better is the fact that the event, which “hopes to reinvent the traditions of Vaudeville for a 21st century audience – a live mash up of art forms and entertainment under one umbrella,” is free and open to the public. But, before you get too excited, the free part only gets you on the grounds, as many of the shows are separately ticketed, in the $15-$20 dollar range.
