Notoriously prolific Japanese drone trio Boris appear determined to make 2011 the heaviest year yet, announcing no less than three separate releases by the end of Spring alone.
The album Smile will come out on Sunn O))) member and sometime Boris collaborator Greg Anderson’s Southern Lord label in April. If you want a sneak peak of “Smile,” the “Statement” 7-inch is available now on Southern Lord and contains the title track and a B-side, “Floorshaker,” which will not be on “Smile.” “Statement” is limited to 1000 copies, so grab it now while the grabbing’s good.
Although details are scarce (or, rather, nonexistent), another album titled Attention Please will also be released at a yet-to-be-determined date as Boris’ debut on Sargent House.
If that wasn’t enough for all your Boris needs, Southern Lord will also be offering a re-release of Boris’ seminal 2002 stoner rock LP Heavy Rocks. Featuring Boris at their absolute grooviest, its long awaited re-release should prove the perfect end to an eventful season for fans. (Tiny Mix Tapes)
