Bonny Light Horseman unleash the gorgeous “I Know You Know”, announce double album

Bonny Light Horseman – the trio of Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson, and Josh Kaufman – will release a new double album called Keep Me on Your Mind/See You Free on 7 June through Jagjaguwar. In February they released the stunning “When I Was Younger” and today they release the second glimpse of the album in “I Know You Know”.

This one finds Johnson on lead vocals, but with Mitchell close on his heels providing those luminous harmonies that light up all Bonny Light Horseman songs. Johnson’s reedy voice is the perfect vessel for this song full of wistful whimsy, casting a glance back at life and all the love lessons along the way that have made it sweet, bitter and all the richer.

The song also comes with Bonny Light Horseman’s first ever video! Johnson says:

“When thinking about directors for Bonny Light Horseman’s first (!!!) ever music video, Kimberly Stuckwisch leapt to mind immediately. I’d been a longtime fan of her always-evocative work–and for our band I felt like she’d ‘get it. The treatment she came back with was deeply aligned with the sentiments of the song: life’s multiverse, the dualities of joy and pain, the choices we make that chart our course towards one way or another. We shot this on a salt flat in the Mojave desert, trying to outrun the sunset and packs of salty coyotes, under the watch of some wayward desert pelicans.”
