Best Coast continue to tour the hell out of Crazy For You, but that doesn’t mean that their sophomore LP isn’t on their mind. Or, not on their mind, as Bethany Cosentino tells Rolling Stone.
“The second record is something I try to avoid thinking about, but also cannot stop thinking about at the same time,” says Cosentino, after confirming plans to hit the studio in the fall, specifically October.
What can we expect from their newest effort? “The stuff I have been writing lately is kind of different. I have been experimenting with different songwriting structures than I was with the first record. I wanted to go in kind of a different route, so I have been listening to a lot of older country music.” She goes on to cite Loretta Lynn and Johnny Crawford as particular influences. The goal is to blend the “classic pop thing that (she) does with the country thing.” Don’t worry, though. Cosentino urges that the record will not be a country video, at all.
