Although the sad end of summer approaches, not everything is as depressing as it seems. Austin, Texas’ The Strange Boys are beginning a month-long fall tour with Gentleman Jesse and His Men, giving fans of timeless rock n’ roll something to look forward to.
Comparable to the 13th Floor Elevators, the Strange Boys bring a sound to the year 2010 that is familiar to fans of psychedelic/garage rock n’ roll as well as incorporating new and current trends in this genre. Signed to In the Red records, it is easy to see how this band fits in well; the label is also home to Black Lips and Mark Sultan.
Opening for Gentleman Jesse and His Men, this tour seems to be one to follow if the lack of recent garage is getting you down. Having started their tour on September 2nd at the Saturn Bar in New Orleans, LA, the bands will be on tour until the 3rd of October, ending up in Memphis, TN. Dates can be found here on MySpace. For those of you who aren’t being graced with the presence of these bands in your hometowns, don’t fret; The Strange Boys formed in 2003 and have been on tour almost entirely since their formation, you’ll probably see them much sooner than later.
