Pat Les Stache could be considered a disco revivalist. His work on the blog American Athlete is a mix of archivalist delicacy and fanboy appreciation, helping turn a new generation of people on to dusty old disco albums. His Cabana Disco reedit series has been met with critical acclaim, but this fall marks the start of a new series: Athlete Edits.
The first single in the series ships November 8th and featured three late ’70s era cosmic disco edits. The A-Side is available for download below, and by title alone is a great summation of this project’s goal. All tracks on this extremely limited run (300 copies) are previously unreleased, so snagging a pre-order wouldn’t be the worst idea. And if Pat’s work on “I Am The Disco Machine” is any indication, Athlete Edits will be another flawless retrospective on forgotten records.
