Alex Porat throws a “Pity Party” with her addictively acerbic new single

Toronto singer/songwriter Alex Porat delves into slices of icy cool pop with confidence seldom heard from such a new artist. Having released her debut mini-album, MISS SICK WORLD, just last year, her latest single, “Pity Party” is a clear level up for the continuously evolving Porat.

It’s a dismissal of all the people around her who simply shouldn’t be there, those dragging her down, while it also saves some ire for herself. No one is safe from her slick shots: “You want me to pop champagne for your tears / This will be the fake event of the year,” she sings.

Speaking on the inspiration for the song, Porat shares, “I’m really bad at cutting people out of my life so whenever I have a toxic relationship I end up holding on to it way longer than I should. ‘Pity Party’ is about trying to stay friends with someone who knows how to emotionally take advantage of you and how you feel. At some point, enough is enough, and you’re over their toxic drama.

Check out “Pity Party” below and stay tuned for more from Porat, with any lucky, very soon.
