Having recently thrown a “Pity Party”, Toronto singer/songwriter Alex Porat is going in rather a different direction with her latest single. “Sensitive” is all insecurities and desire for stability, driven by nervous energy.
Propelled by an strong drumbeat and frolicking guitar, nonetheless, the clear focus is on Porat’s performance itself.
Speaking on the track, Porat shares, “I’ve always known that I’m an overly sensitive person. I definitely cry a lot and I let my emotions take control of me. My default is reading into situations, taking a lot of things personally, and constantly overthinking. I make my own life harder than it needs to be and that’s the whole concept behind Sensitive. Sometimes I’m convinced it’s a secret super power being able to pick up on all the little things but sometimes those little things are all it takes to bring me down.”
When she sings, “wonder what it would be like, not to be so fucking sensitive,” you feel it, and regardless of how strong your disposition is, you’ll find yourself feeling sensitive yourself before the track is done.
