You may know Lou Doillon, but not in a musical setting. Until last year, she made her name not just as the sister of Charlotte Gainsbourg and step-daughter of Serge Gainsbourg, but as an actress and model. But last year she revealed her fondness of music with her single “ICU” last year, with it’s quietly echoing piano chords and ruminations on a past love. That same song is carried forward to open up her debut album, Places, which will be released on June 18th on Verve Records, and the album reveals that Doillon has a lot more talent hiding inside her. New single “Devil or Angel” is a subtle exercise in what she can do, fluttering along with high-hats and acoustic guitars. Below you watch the video for the track, where Doillon wanders around a highland setting. “I’m sorry if I disappoint you” she remarks at the end of the chorus; it’s hard feel any such way when listening to “Devil or Angel.”
