To start the week we have the pleasure of premiering a new track from LA duo The Reflections, which comprises Darian Zahedi and Bleached member Jon Safley. They’ve only been working together for just over a year, but having worked with several other projects they are by no means just starting out, and this is proven in the song we have for you today. “In Another Life” demonstrates the pair’s way with combining swaggering guitar and bass with hazy textures that conjure the titular other life. As the song progresses and softly cooing backing vocals seduce you into a mellow daydream you’ll be swept up in the song’s effortless flow and by the time the song comes to a close leaving you with just those backing vocals as a memory of the soundscape through which you’ve just floated, you’ll wish it had been twice as long. Luckily you can just press play again and you’ll be carried away once more.
“In Another Life” has us excited for The Reflections’ debut album Limerence, which is set for release on May 7th. The Reflections worked with producer Kenny Woods (Jenny Lewis, Lykke Li, Vampire Weekend) for the album. The cover art, which you can see below, was shot by actor Adam Goldberg.
