There have been whispers for months now that Trent Reznor (some from the man himself) was refurbishing Nine Inch Nails for a proper return. It was all but expected – but perhaps in not such a grand fashion. The infamous band shall roar back to life with a nearly completely new lineup. The ranks are composed of Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, NIN’s own Alessandro Cortini, keyboardist Josh Eustis, and drummer Ilan Rubin.
It won’t be long now, either. “Nine Inch Nails are touring this year,” Reznor declares, “The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the U.S. this fall and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.”
Neither will the band be resting on its laurels, with Reznor intending a complete overhaul of their technique. Reznor explains, “I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which, many steps later, led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.”
There you have it. For those that have been waiting, your trials are nearly at an end.
