Vancouver-based quintet Mode Moderne are on the cusp of releasing a new EP entitled Strange Bruises, which is set for release through Light Organ Records on May 15th. As part of the lead up to the release the band has released the first single, entitled “Nightly Youths,” and we have the pleasure of premiering the video – a noteworthy visual piece that should certainly garner some buzz.
The video for “Nightly Youths” is all puppetry and follows a fox through his nocturnal venturings in the city and beyond, showing who he meets and what he does with them. Each person may have a different interpretation of what happens in the video, or what exactly it all means, but everyone will be captured by the visuals. The video also goes well with the song, which is a jangly piece of ’70s/’80s-influenced luminescent post-punk with hushed vocals that reel in the listener immediately.
