Red Hot Chili Peppers to release recordings of every show of their tour

Red Hot Chili Peppers released their new album I’m With You a few months ago, therefore they’ve currently got a whole ton of touring ahead of them. While each individual show might not seem special to the band themselves, for those in attendance the show will hopefully be something special that they want to keep in their memory, so what better way to do this than to have a recording of the performance?

The band has announced that from today onwards, every show of this tour and the next tour will be professionally recorded and made available to download in high quality MP3 and FLAC format. The performances will be available within two days of the performance on redhotchilipeppers.com. The press release does not mention a price, so we must assume that these will be free to download As pointed out in the comments below the pricing has been made available. The band will charge $9.95 for MP3s of the show and $12.95 for FLAC/ALAC. You can head to livechilipeppers.com now to check it out.

This means hardcore fans can download every single night and compare the performances. Are RHCP becoming the new Phish? Maybe.
