Fever Ray, stage name of Karin Dreijer Andersson, one half of The Knife, is an artist that takes no compromises in putting all of her inspiration on show, often to dark, disturbing and ultimately jaw-dropping effects. Her music is about as far away from the idea of an innocent childhood fairytale as you can imagine, but people who’ve really read into fairytales know they can be plenty dark themselves. The new film adaptation of Red Riding Hood by Catherine Hardwicke seems to be playing on these dark tones and themes, and this is where Andersson steps in.
Andersson has contributed a song to the soundtrack; the threatening, wailing and voodoo chant-including “The Wolf.” There really are no words to describe how magnificent it is, so check it out for yourself.
