Video: Memory Tapes – “Today Is Our Life”

One of the brightest and most unexpectedly great little albums of recent years was Seek Magic, the 2009 debut of Memory Tapes (alias of Dayve Hawke).

It seems a follow up to that will soon arrive, we’ve got the video for the first track released from it “Today Is Our Life” just below. The song came sort of out of left field yesterday as a part of the free download Love Sic Disco compilation (which you can get here), but now the video has arrived and it is confirmed that this is the lead single from the upcoming album.

“Today Is Our Life” promises great things from the second album, with an expectedly upbeat and catchy chorus and a slightly less expected extended guitar jam, funky keyboards and what sounds like steel drum in the second half. All great things.

The video is a great, spiralling, kaleidoscopic black and white affair brought to us by Jamie Harley.
