There have rarely been albums more energetic and full of life than Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes 2009 debut album Up From Below. That album featured 10 members of the band all making themselves known through various instruments and vocal performances across the album, so it is surprising to hear that their leader Alexander Ebert has decided to go entirely solo for his next release.
Ebert wrote and recorded the album, entitled Alexander, on his own in his bedroom with his guitar, violin, clarinet and his Lowery organ. Of course he had his body too, which made for good percussion when slapped, and his vocals.
Alexander will be released on March 1st through Community Music. He will then play a few shows in LA and at SXSW before rejoining The Magnetic Zeros and finishing their sophomore album which they hope will also be released this year.
The tracklist for Alexander is:
01. Let’s Win!
02. Awake My Body
03. Truth
04. In The Twilight
05. Bad Bad Love
06. Old Friend
07. A Million Years
08. Remember Our Heart
09. Glimpses
10. Let’s Make A Deal To Not Make A Deal
