When this year-long tour started for She & Him, their cover of “I Put A Spell On You” was closing out shows as a second encore, and seemed to weigh down the music that had come before it. It has gotten better. A lot better.
The song has gone from Screamin’ Jay Hawkins to Nina Simone to CCR to Bryan Ferry to Marilyn Manson, and plenty more in between. Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward both have a hand at adding their name to that list, and theirs is as good as you will find. Enjoy.
