The White Stripes threaten to take ‘strong action’ against Air Force Reserve

The White Stripes ain’t playing around. On the Third Man Records website (Third Man Records is Jack White’s label), the band has promised to take “strong action” against the Air Force Reserve for including a rendition of “Fell in Love With a Girl” on an Air Force recruitment commercial that aired during the Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday. Could this mean a lawsuit? It was not explicitly stated, so for now, we can only take it at face value.

The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserves presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support.

Fair enough. The videos were initially placed side-by-side so that people could compare for themselves, but the Air Force Reserve has since removed the advertisement from their site.
