Last year, news that Pavement main-man Stephen Malkmus had been working with Beck broke, but like a Christmas package in September, we knew it would be a long time until this collaboration would be enjoyed. Now that the Pavement reunion is completed, Matador has announced the new album from Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, and it is indeed produced by Beck.
Titled Mirror Traffic, the album will see release on August 23rd. Matador is making the bold claim that Mirror Traffic will tie “together Stephen’s skill-set like none of it’s predecessors.” What exactly that means, I am not sure. It sounds good, though!
An interesting note is that this will be the last Jicks album to feature Janet Weiss on drums, who is now pounding the beat for Wild Flag. Former Joggers drummer Jakes Morris will be taking her spot.
