Every year, a new crop of band’s headlines Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl and can officially say, you know, they’ve made it. Last year it was bands like TV On The Radio and The National, while the year before that saw Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, and LCD Soundsystem. As the LA Times reports, a couple of this year’s crop may be interesting to you readers, as they are Animal Collective and one-two punch of Hot Chip and Passion Pit.
Of course, Panda Bear just played the bowl last year supporting TV On The Radio and Hot Chip opened the aforementioned LCD Soundsystem shows, but this is still a huge deal for these bands, and could mean good news for fans in other parts of the country. For one, this likely means new albums from all before or around the time of their dates (AnCo on 9/23, Hot Chip and Passion Pit on 9/9), as well as a strong possibility of further late-summer touring for all acts. We’ll keep you posted on further news from all of these groups as it becomes available.
Update: These shows are presented by KCRW and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association as part of KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. You can subscribe to full series of shows here now, with single tickets going on sale in later months.
