There probably isn’t going to be an album release on Merge this year that sees less attention than The Rosebuds’ Loud Planes Fly Low, which sounds like a bad thing, but may in fact turn out to be a good one. The new album from the North Carolina duo is an absolute gem of laid back pop with broken-heart vocals and will catch those going in with no expectations completely off guard in the best way possible.
Kelly Crisp and Ivan Howard were married, but are recently divorced, and channelled any feelings that they had about the situation into the recording of this new album. This is their fifth full-length, but now is as good a time as any to start listening to The Rosebuds because they’re at the top of their game.
Loud Planes Fly Low sees official release next Tuesday but you can stream it in its entirety below.
