Recently, Evan Magers of surf pop duo La Vega spoke with Beats Per Minute concerning his move from California to Austin, TX, his love of The Beatles, and how the group’s various musical influences have helped to shape the sound of their debut LP,Wave. Filled with sun-soaked nostalgia for the summertime and a fondness for 60’s inspired surf rock, Wave feels like the album you want (or possibly need) during the last gasp of this humid season. Bringing to mind long days at the beach and road trips down endless coastal highways, Magers and La Vega co-founder Daniel Vega sprint through the sunshine pop of the 60’s at a rapid clip, tossing off waves of chiming guitars and beach-beat percussion without breaking their stride.
