Isaac Brock, James Mercer and more contribute new songs to movie soundtrack

A new documentary called 180° South about adventurers from Patagonia, a region in the very south of South America, is to have a soundtrack featuring several artists contributing original songs, including Isaac Brock and James Mercer.

Modest Mouse singer Isaac Brock takes up the name Ugly Casanova once more; the moniker used for his previous solo recordings, and is contributing the majority of the soundtrack with nine songs, eight of which are new (“Hotcha Girls” appeared on the 2001 album Sharpen Your Teeth). Lead-singer of The Shins, James Mercer, contributes two songs, one of which is a cover of Neil Young’s “Journey Through The Past.”

The other contributors are Mason Jennings, Love As Laughter and Jack Johnson, and the soundtrack is being released through Johnson’s record label Brushfire on June 22nd.
