dayaway share the shimmering, gently wistful “summer’s end”, prepare debut EP [BPM Premiere]

Tomorrow, CLAVVS side project dayaway will release their self-titled debut EP. Drawing influence from Rilo Kiley and Beach House in equal measure, the band offer summery dream pop with a bit of an edge. They say:

“This project started as a sort of accident. I was sitting on the beach on a late summer day in 2018 when I felt compelled to start writing these summertime love songs. They came to me so quickly and all at once. These are vignettes of love and loss from my imagination and my life. They’re meant to capture the feelings of summertime, from the hot blue euphoria to the hazy golden sadness. On one level, they’re simple love songs, but there’s also something a little deeper about growing up and saying goodbye.”

Ahead of the EP’s release, they’ve shared the new single for the project, “summer’s end”, which Beats Per Minute is pleased to premiere.

The track opens with gentle strumming, quickly joined by a proper Dream pop backing, lulling synths and distant, wistful drums, with Amber Renee’s serene vocals coasting across the production with sublime ease. It’s, no matter how many times you’ve heard this, truly the perfect companion for a lazy summer day.

Check it out below, and look out for the dayaway EP in full tomorrow (pre-save).
