Superior Viaduct set to reissue EP’s from proto-punks The Urinals for Record Store Day

The Urinals

Along with the already announced plethora of riches coming our way on Record Store Day next month, we can also look forward to the vinyl reissue of three early EP’s from California proto-punks The Urinals.  Emerging from Los Angeles in the late 70’s, the band were often compared to fellow forward-thinking post-punkers Wire.  These EP’s formed the basis of much of what would form into the darkly melodic punk-tinged rock of the 80’s.  It’s telling that bands like The Gun Club and The Minutemen regularly covered The Urinals in concert and on record.  And so it has fallen to San Francisco archival imprint Superior Viaduct to reissue these well out-of-print releases and give them a new birth for those interested in the inception of LA punk in the late 70’s.  So keep a sharp eye out come April 20th for your own copies.  Check out a preview of the reissue below via Superior Viaduct’s Soundcloud page.
