Soulwax launching mixtape app

Each time a new track surfaces, the screen shows these people assembling themselves into something resembling the original cover, as background and props do the same.

There’s something to be said about the work ethic of Belgian dance rockers Soulwax. The brothers Dewaele tour endlessly as a four piece rock outfit, push out remix after remix, create documentaries, host radio shows, and create new music and mixes under various aliases. But that’s apparently not enough to satisfy these musical entrepreneurs, as their newest project is a technologically magnificent compendium of art and music. Featuring 24 different hour long mixes, each focusing on a specific genre, the mixes will be accompanied by hour long films which recreate the album art of each track on the mix in real time. If you’ve ever traveled down the fandom wormhole what is 2ManyDJs or Radio Soulwax, you know that the brothers are incredibly talented at creating eclectic and timeless mixes, and that no two experience are alike. Sadly though, Soulwax won’t reap a penny from the project, as they have to release the app for free under a radio license to avoid legal problems. So maybe go to their show and buy a t-shirt or something. No word yet on platforms for the app, but you can read more about the project here.
