Madonna to perform at Super Bowl halftime show

Last year, the Super Bowl halftime show stumbled. Big time. Booking the Black Eyed Peas is bad enough, but after a run of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and The Who, it was just downright bogus. You’d have to go back to 2003’s combo of Shania Twain, Sting, and No Doubt to get anything close to as lame as last year’s, and it looks like the Super Bowl XLVI is looking to redeem itself, with the booking of one of the biggest artists on the planet: Madonna.

Now, booking Madonna obviously raises a couple issues. For one, will she keep it clean? With the exception of T-Lake pulling off Janet Jackson’s top, the Super Bowl is a family affair and needs to be suitable for children and your mom. But, Madonna is a pro and will probably stick to her more innocuous hits. But, that raises the second question, as to whether Madonna will even stick to the hits, as the singer is usually fond of playing her new stuff and looks to have a new album ready around that time. Hopefully, she doesn’t see the biggest audience imaginable as a good time to try out some of her new stuff. Just play “Ray Of Light,” and play it loud.
