Dent May announces sophomore album details

Dent May is doing surprisingly well in music considering his first album was called The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele, in which he mostly played, you guessed it, ukulele. I even saw him open for Animal Collective over in London, who would have expected that?! We love him because he’s goofy, we love his humor, and damn he knows how to write a good tune on that uke. But in 2011 May stepped away from that beloved instrument and started experimenting in other things.

May will return on June 12 with his follow up album entitled Do Things, which, like his first album, will come out on Paw Tracks. Dent May split recording time for Do Things between his bedroom and Cats Purring Dude Ranch, and has ended up with an album that continues along the vain of the music he once described as a “wedding reception band on acid.”

Last summer May released a single which featured “Fun” and “Wedding Day,” both of which return here. “Fun” offered a glimpse into the bigger and more summery-psychedelic sound that he’s been working on, so it’ll be nice to have an excuse to bump that again this summer period. Check out the track list and cover art for Do Things below and stream “Fun” here if you missed it (or need a refresher).
