Track Premiere: The Shilohs – “Get Ready Now”

The Shilohs are concerned with that big old emotion we all call love – but don’t think for a second that that means they’re dawdling about with a series of musical passing glances and whispers in the background. Instead they opt for getting straight to the point and march into the room, announcing their case. If there ever was an apt title for their instantly likeable approach, then they’ve nailed it with “Get Ready Now.”

“Get Ready Now” starts the parade of what promises to be a fruitful and joyous year ahead for The Shilohs; next year they’ll release their debut album So Wild on Light Organ Records (on the 5th February, to be exact). Along with the good people at My Old Kentucky Blog and Pigeons & Planes, we here at Beats Per Minute are happy, excited, and pleased to offer you their first listen to “Get Ready Now.”

Combining an infectious drum shuffle and some likeable guitar hooks, the Vancouver band sound like they’ve somehow managed to just walk in from the dusty plains of Wild West America as they do they from a 1960’s recording studio. It might be Friday, and Christmas might be fast-approaching, but “Get Ready Now” is a track that’ll definitely rid you of any lingering downtrodden feelings, and have you bopping about like you’re free of every worry that ever troubled you.
